Gambling Game Is Called Blackjack!
June 7th, 2008Referred to as blackjack by some people and twenty-one by others, it is by far one of the most popular card games around. No matter what the gambling game is called, the object of the game is the same, and it is described quite simply and accurately in the title of THE definitive book on blackjack called “Beat the Dealer!”
Written by Edward O. Thorp and released in 1963, the book was a huge worldwide best seller and was primarily responsible for the blackjack revolution that eventually swept all across the globe. Today the book is still widely circulated and is definitely prescribed reading for anyone who wants to get familiar with the intricacies of blackjack.
Blackjack can be played with either one, two, four, six or eight decks of cards at a time. In many of the casinos nowadays, continuous shuffling machines are used to ensure total randomness of the cards that show up.
The way the cards are dealt out in single and double deck games tends to differ from multi-deck games. In single and double deck blackjack games, the dealer typically holds the cards and deals them out to the players, while in multi-deck blackjack games a tray like box called a shoe is often used.
